Chemical Spill At SHU In Fairfield Causes Large Hazmat Response A chemical spill at a Sacred Heart University science lab in Connecticut caused an evacuation and a hazmat response. The incident occurred in Fairfield around 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the university. Fairfield Fire Department units quickly responded and found the building had been evacuated and secured by the SHU Department of Public Safety.
