GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich Hospital is hosting a free weight-loss surgery informational session on Monday, Aug. 22, at 4:45 p.m., in the Hyde Conference Room at Greenwich Hospital, 5 Perryridge Road.For those 60 pounds or more overweight and concerned about developing obesity-related conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and gastric reflux, may be candidates for weight-loss surgery.

MONROE, Conn. --- A Connecticut man claims he was beaten while riding in an ambulance by an angry EMT, according to the CT Post.
In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, Aug. 16, against the town and ambulance service, Robert Alix claims serious injuries and trauma resulting from the abuse at the hands of Alejandro Ramirez. His suit is for $15,000 in damages from a combination of the town and Monroe Emergency Medical Services, according to CT Post.

Connecticut's Jobless Rate Declines To 5.7 Percent In July
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Connecticut added 1,700 jobs during July to a level of 1,693,000, when the preliminary Connecticut nonfarm job estimates are seasonally adjusted, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics . “There is uniformly good news in our employment surveys last month,” said Andy Condon, director of the Office of Research. “Payroll jobs grew. Our labor force grew, and we saw our unemployment rate decline for the first time since August of last year.”
