WestConn To Train Vets For Project Management Jobs

DANBURY, Conn. – Military veterans in Connecticut can soon get help finding jobs in the field of project management thanks to a new program offered by Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

WestConn will offer a program to help veterans gain skills for employment in professional management.

The program partners academic learning with hands-on-experience to prepare veterans for a future in project management. WestConn is teaming with Workforce Opportunity Services, a nonprofit company that helps young adults in underserved areas achieve personal and professional success, according to a statement from WestConn.

The program is open to students with a high school diploma and honorable discharge and military service after Sept. 11, 2001. Participants will take part in a two-semester, six-month certificate program in project management training, while also participating in on-the-job training at corporations selected by Workforce Opportunity Services.

After completing the program, students are encouraged to enter a bachelor’s degree program funded by Workforce Opportunity Services or their employer.
