State Reps. Richard A. Smith and Janice Giegler and state Sen. Michael McLachlan spoke on topics including the state budget, gun control, mental health reform, driving privileges for illegal immigrants, same day voter registration, funding cuts to the Western Connecticut Health Network and the state's economy.
“The 2013 session brought some far-reaching and controversial policies to the forefront, and I enjoyed meeting with our constituents to offer them more information and hear their concerns,” Smith said in a statement. “These events help me take the pulse of residents on issues unfolding within our state, and I thank attendees for their time and insightful feedback.”
Giegler, an assistant Republican leader, said, "I appreciated the open dialogue and the interest and concerns expressed by those in attendance, which shows they are listening and are concerned with where Connecticut is heading."
McLachlan spoke out on the state budget. "Rep. Smith, Rep. Giegler and I will continue to be strong, united voices in favor of eliminating wasteful state spending,” he said.
