Motorcyclist Escapes Serious Injury In Danbury Crash

updated: DANBURY, Conn. — A motorcyclist was able to walk away with no serious injuries after he was struck by a car backing out of a driveway on Tuesday morning in Danbury, police said.

The crash occurred at about 11:40 a.m. on Town Hill Avenue near Cottage Street, police said.

Police officers responded from a problem at a nearby Metro-North train crossing where a car hit and knocked over a gate.

The accident occurred when Leticia Sanango-Pulgarin, 25, of New Milford, was pulling out of the driveway of 52 Town Hill Ave. in her VW Jetta, police said. She did not see Bagner Suarez-Talavera, 23, of Danbury, who heading north on Town Hill Avenue on his motorcycle, and struck the motorcycle, police said. 

Suarez-Talavera was issued an infraction on a charge of operating a motorcycle without the proper endorsement, police said. 

Sanango-Pulgarin was issued an infraction on a charge of failure to grant right of way from a driveway, police said.

Suarez-Talavera was transported to Danbury Hospital for minor injuries.

Fire personnel and an ambulance arrived at the scene, and EMTs checked the motorcyclist, who pointed to scrapes on his side and his leg from the fall.
