Large Power Outages Strike Danbury After Fierce Thunderstorm Rolls Through

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Eversource was reporting a number of power outages Thursday night after a strong thunderstorm brought heavy rains, loud thunder and a large amount of lightning to Fairfield County.

As of 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Eversource was reporting the following outages: 

  • Bethel: 2 customers
  • Brookfield: 26 customers
  • Danbury: 2,155 customers
  • Greenwich: 137 customers 
  • New Fairfield: 3 customers
  • Newtown: 373 customers
  • Ridgefield: 5 customers
  • Stamford: 87 customers

It was not clear when power would be restored. 

Mayor Mark Boughton that Clapboard Ridge and Middle River were closed Thursday after the storm, with fires reported in the area. He did not give any details on the fires.
