For 7-year-old Ashlee Rodney of North Salem, N.Y., this meant roller-blading at Rogers Park in Danbury with her father, Rodney Evans.
“This is my first time at this park,” said Ashlee, who was having just her second try at roller-blading.
“It’s great to get out of the house today,” Rodney Evans said.
As for Ashlee’s rollerblading? “This is something new for her. Let’s see how long it lasts,” he said.
Danbury resident Lindsey Hoffman, with 2-year-old daughter Olivia, said this is her first time at the park all winter.
“Olivia likes to run around so this is great for us,” Hoffman said as her daughter scampered a few feet ahead. “Olivia likes the slide here. And in the summer, she likes to play in the water park."
Hoffman was happy to be outside. “I work nights as a waitress in Ridgefield so I can be a stay-at-home mom all day,” said Hoffman, who is expecting a second daughter in May.
For 64-year-old Bob Ginty of New Milford, it was the perfect day for a run.
“I grew up in Danbury and I think Rogers Park is beautiful. They've kept it very nice all these years,” said Ginty, who runs 50 to 60 miles a week and has run about 10 marathons -- the most recent of which was Hartford last October.
“It’s much nicer running outside than on the treadmill at the gym," he said.
The spring-like weather is expected to remain warm, with a high of 61 degrees on Saturday, although there is a 70 percent chance of rain. On Sunday, it will much cooler, with a high of only 42.
