The free concert will feature music from French romanticism to modern theatrical, including the overture from "West Side Story," Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera’s "Estancia: Ballet Suite, " Ralph Vaughan Williams’ "Symphony No. 5 in D Major" and Camille Saint Saëns’ "Violin Concerto in B minor" featuring Lori Abbott.

In addition to being the violin soloist for the concert, Abbott also mentors the group, helping them improve their bowing technique and interpretation of the many styles they play. She has nothing but praise for the orchestra, characterizing them as a “relaxed but focused” group that are very attentive to the music.

Maestro Stephen Michael Smith returns to inspire the orchestra and audience alike with his skilled conducting and infectious passion for music, according to a press release.

The Visual and Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticut State University is at 43 Lake Ave Ext., Danbury.
