Fire Damages Home On Muirwood Court In Brookfield BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire on Muirwood Court in Brookfield on Thursday morning. The fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. and drew mutual aid from several surrounding departments, including the Danbury Fire Department, Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company, Newtown Hook & Ladder, Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company and the Water Witch Hose Co. 2 of New Milford. Stamford Man Charged In Fatal Heroin Overdose In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. — A Stamford man was charged with manslaughter on Wednesday in connection with a fatal heroin overdose in Stamford, according to Greenwich Patch. The arrest stems from a fatal overdose on Alexander Street in Greenwich on July 8, 2017, according to Greenwich Patch. A 34-year-old victim was found dead at the scene, and an investigation determined that the drugs in the overdose had been supplied by Christopher F. Brokaw, 42, of Stamford, Greenwich Patch reported. Stamford Reacts To Not Making Amazon's List Of Finalists For New HQ STAMFORD, Conn. – Even though Stamford did not make it to the short list of possible locations for Amazon's second headquarters, city officials still see a silver lining and think that Stamford will make an appealing location for another major company. Escaped Inmate From Connecticut Prison Captured In Georgia An inmate who escaped from Carl Robinson Correction Institution in Enfield was captured in Georgia on Wednesday after 10 days on the run, according to state police.Jerry Mercado, 25, had escaped from prison on Sunday, Jan. 7, lead to a full scale search by multiple public safety agencies. Mercado, who is from Hartford, had been classified as a low-risk offender, according to state police. Juvenile Charged With Stealing Credit Cards In Monroe Car Burglary MONROE, Conn. -- A juvenile has been charged with stealing credit cards from a car at a Monroe home, where another car was also stolen, according to police. At around 2 a.m. Dec. 19, Monroe Police responded to a Doris Drive home on a report of a stolen car. They determined that a car had been stolen and a second car had been burglarized. Norwalk Police Seek Suspect Who Used Stolen Credit Cards To Buy Jewelry NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Police are seeking a person suspected of stealing someone's credit cards and using them to buy jewelry and handbags in Trumbull and Greenwich. Police said that on Oct. 19, 2017, the suspect made several thousand dollars worth of fraudulent purchases of jewelry and handbags at the Trumbull Mall and at Saks Fifth Avenue in Greenwich, using the victim's store credit cards. Darien Police: Bridgeport Driver Fled Cops And Lied About It DARIEN, Conn. — A Bridgeport man was arrested after police said he fled from officers who tried to stop him in Darien, and then later tried to convince officers that he hadn't even been driving the car. On Thursday, Jan. 11, an officer saw a car driving east on Heights Road in Darien with heavy front end damage and no headlights on, police said.
