In a 1,432 to 949 vote Tuesday, residents gave approval for a $40.4 million Board of Education budget with a spending increase of 2.17 percent, the News-Times.
The budget will eliminate the pay-to-participate program and add history and business teachers at Brookfield High School as well as a district technology leader, the News-Times said.
The $23 million town budget, with an increase of 6.5 percent, passed in a vote of 1,510 to 855, the News-Times said.
Overall, taxes are expected to increase by 2.72 percent to $26.40 per $1,000 assessed valuation, the story said.
Voters also approved bonding $1.9 million to cover part of a $3.3 million gap in the town’s fund balance, the News-Times said.
