Heat May Give Way To Severe Thunderstorms In Bridgeport

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — It's another hot day as the heat wave continues across Fairfield County, but residents should be ready for heavy rains and the possibility of high winds when thunderstorms roll through Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents should expect the storms to begin later Monday afternoon, becoming heavier in the evening. Coastal residents should be aware of the possibility of rip current. 

Conditions return to normal on Tuesday with highs in the mid- to upper-80s. 

  • Monday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Southwest wind 7 to 15 mph.
  • Monday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. West wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of rain is 60 percent. 
  • Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph
  • Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. North wind around 6 mph.
  • Wednesday: Sunny with a high near 80 degrees. North wind around 6 mph.
  • Wednesday night: Mostly clear with a low near 63 degrees.
