Motorists in the Nutmeg State are seeing some financial relief at the pump with Connecticut’s “gas tax holiday" in full effect.
Connecticut now has the 30th most expensive gas in the US, according to AAA, with prices dropping 11 cents in the past week, down to an average of $3.92 per gallon as of Monday, April 11.
Nationally, the average price per gallon is sitting at $4.11 per gallon, down from $4.19 a week ago.

With the demand for gas reaching record highs in the US, consumers in Connecticut have seen a spike in price at the pump, though not as sharp as some neighboring states.
As of Wednesday, July 14, the average price per gallon of gas in Connecticut has hit $3.15, near the national average, according to AAA. The price is a cent more than it was a week ago, six cents more than a month ago, and up from $2.20 a year ago.

Drops in demand and crude oil prices, coupled with COVID-related travel restrictions, allowed the average Connecticut driver to save at least $240 last year compared to 2019, says AAA Northeast.
In 2019, CT drivers paid an average of $2.72 for a gallon of self-serve, regular gas. In that year, a driver, who traveled 12,000 miles annually in a vehicle delivering 25 mpg, would have spent $1,305, said Fran Mayko, AAA Northeast spokeswoman.
