CT Man Breaks Into Bedroom, Pushes Victim Against Wall During Burglary: Police
Hours after a Connecticut man originally trespassed on someone’s property, he took it a step further by breaking in, police said.
It happened on Tuesday, Nov. 7 in the Tolland County town of Mansfield, according to Connecticut State Police.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers received a 911 call from the victim, who was reporting an active burglary at their home.
According to investigators, 37-year-old Keith Haddad of Mansfield had originally been involved with police earlier that day, when he is said to have trespassed on the victim’s property.

Double Murder, Kidnapping Case: Newtown Native Gets 55-Year Sentence
A 26-year-old former UConn student has been sentenced to prison for the horrific killings of two men and the kidnapping of a woman.
Fairfield County native Peter Manfredonia, age 26, who grew up in Newtown, who currently has an address in Tolland County in Mansfield, was sentenced on Wednesday, April 19 to 55 years in prison in a 2020 murder and kidnapping case under a plea agreement, according to NBC Connecticut.
Manfredonia admitted to killing 62-year-old Ted DeMers, in Willington on Friday, May 22, 2020, officials said in an arrest warrant.

A powerful storm packed with damaging winds has knocked out power to more than 100,000 across Connecticut.
As of around 7:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, Eversource is reporting 97,652, with United Illuminating reporting another 3,447.

Woman, Man Become Combative With Troopers After Burglary In CT, Police Say
A woman and man are facing charges after a burglary and fight with officers in Connecticut.
At around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, troopers from Troop C in Tolland responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked behind a residence on Middle Turnpike, in Mansfield.
The reporting party advised Troop C that the residence was known to be unoccupied for an extended period of time, state police said.

CT Man Flees Troopers In Stolen Mustang, Crashes Into Mailboxes, Police Say
A 21-year-old man was charged after police said he fled from troopers in a stolen Ford Mustang and crashed into mailboxes in Connecticut.
At about 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, troopers were investigating a report that a vehicle was stolen at 12:45 a.m. in the Tolland County town of Willington, and while at a home on Ashford Center Road in Ashford, they saw the stolen Ford Mustang driving west, according to Connecticut State Police.
Troopers recognized the driver as Jacob Cormier, of Willington, police said.
The Mustang sped away and troopers lost sight of it, authorities reported.

28-Year-Old UConn Grad Student Struck, Killed By Car In Crosswalk, State Police Say
Connecticut State Police are asking witnesses to a crash that left a UConn researcher and graduate student dead after he was struck by a car.
Tolland County resident Nhuong Nguyen, age 28, was killed around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 in Mansfield while walking in the crosswalk on South Eagleville Road, said the Connecticut State Police.
A westbound 2008 Hyundai Elantra struck Nguyen just west of Eastwood Road, state police said.
Nguyen, of Mansfield, was transported to Windham Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Covid-19: Week-to-Week Cases Drop In 34 Connecticut Communities - Town-Level Data
In a bit of good news, the number of COVID-19 cases recorded went down from week-to-week in 34 Connecticut communities including Fairfield, West Haven, Simsbury, Hamden, Trumbull, and North Haven.
Meanwhile, the number of cases in 121 Connecticut cities and towns went up from the week of Nov. 22 to the week of Dec. 5. For 14 communities, including New Haven, there was no change. Places with populations over 20,000 people that had the highest case increase rates were Rocky Hill, Mansfield, Southington, Windham, and Newington.
