Stop & Shop To Close Bridgeport Location, Food Bazaar To Take Over, City Officials Say A Stop & Shop store is closing in Connecticut due to declining revenue, as is the M&T Bank inside the supermarket due to the closure.  Located in Bridgeport at 2145 Fairfield Ave., the store will close early next year, said Caroline Medeiros, a spokeswoman with Stop & Shop. Popular Bridgeport Deli Destroyed By Fire Reopening In Fairfield Italian Deli fans rejoice -- Sorrento Importing Co., a staple of Bridgeport’s Italian food fans since 1966 -- will be reopening in a new location next month. The local favorite had to shut down its Main Street store in August after a fire destroyed the third-floor apartment located above the business.  In September, the business said on Facebook it was reopening in November in a new location in Fairfield and hated to leave their longtime home.
