The Liberty Division jumped out to an early lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Bluefish outfielder Wellington Dotel.
Runs remained at a premium, however, until the top of the eighth inning, when Sugarland Skeeter catcher Travis Scott delivered a two-run double to give the Liberty Division the lead for good and earning him the game's MVP award.
Six Bluefish players were named to the Liberty roster and were coached by their manager, Ricky VanAsselberg.
The 18th annual game was played with baseballs held together with red and blue stitching, the first time since the 1930s that a professional league of any kind has deviated from the traditional red lacing. The game's first pitch is headed to the Baseball Hall of Fame to commemorate the landmark event.
