The GM of the Bluefish declared that “2015 will be the Year of the Bluefish” and that “this is one of the reasons why.
A video was then shown that highlighted the history of the team, including its record setting attendance and its league championship. Near the end of the presentation the narrator dramatically intoned, “And the Bluefish are proud to announce that Bridgeport will be the site of the 2015 Atlantic All Star Game at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.”
The news received rousing applause from the theater filled with Bluefish fans.
The game will take place on Wednesday, July 8.
“It’s a great honor to be able to host the 2015 Atlantic League All-Star Game, and we look forward to putting together a fun-filled schedule of events,” Toole said. “This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, the city of Bridgeport and the entire Southern Connecticut region.”
The event will not be limited to just the baseball game. The festivities will begin Tuesday, July 7. More details and ticket information will be announced in the coming months, the team said.
“The Atlantic League is delighted the 2015 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Bridgeport Bluefish,” said Atlantic League President Rick White. “The Bluefish organization is working hard to create an extraordinary mid-summer celebration in Connecticut’s ‘Magic City.’”
The All Star logo was designed by Skye Design Studios. It features the famed United Illuminating candy stripe pipe and a train just beyond the outfield wall, both common sights at the downtown ballpark.
