University Of Bridgeport Appoints New VP For University Relations

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The University of Bridgeport recently appointed Robert P. Cottle, a longtime leader in higher education and development, as vice president for university relations, UB announced.

The appointment became effective Monday, Nov. 28.

In his new position at UB, Cottle will lead and oversee various development and fundraising campaigns at the university as it prepares to undertake the first phase of a newly announced Campus Master Plan.

Cottle most recently served in two capacities at Fairfield University, first as director of corporate relations from 2006-2010, and most recently as assistant vice president for development, from 2010 until November.

His experience in higher education also includes leadership positions at Sacred Heart University, where from 1999 to 2005, he served as director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, and from 1990 to 1999, was senior assistant director of admissions.

“Rob brings extensive experience in advancement and development that will be critical as UB undertakes the Campus Master Plan in preparation for its centennial anniversary in 2027," said University President Neil A. Salonen. "As a longtime and well-respected leader who has worked in local higher education, Rob understands the distinct needs of our community and will be a champion for our students, faculty, and alumni. I’m delighted to welcome him to UB."

Cottle is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and previously served on the Board of Trustees for Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut, Inc. He is a graduate of Leadership Greater Bridgeport.
