Samuel Calvario, 46, aka Felix Gonzales-Morales, was found and arrested by agents with the U.S. Marshal Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force, Los Angeles police, Bridgeport police and Hartford police, police said. They had received a tip that he was hiding out in the area, police said.
Calvario was charged with being a fugitive from justice and was held on $1 million bond pending extradition to California.
Task force members were able to track Calvario to the rooming house at 113 Poplar St. after he filed a stolen car report with the Bridgeport police.
The murder and kidnapping took place on Nov. 9, 2000, when Daniel Felix saw Calvario and his girlfriend arguing and intervened. Calvario became angry, pulled out a gun and shot him, police said.
Officers executed a search warrant for the residence and DNA samples at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Calvario was taken into custody without incident. A search of the residence uncovered documentation containing Calvario’s original identity, police said.
