Heavy Rain, Fog Headed To Bridgeport

FAiRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Fairfield County residents can shed their heavy coats but should carry their umbrellas through Thursday and expect hampered visibility due to patchy fog, according to the National Weather Service.

On Tuesday, the chance of rain is 100 percent with light winds and temperatures reaching as high as 58 degrees. A quarter to a half-inch of rain may fall.

On Tuesday evening, expect areas of fog as temperatures dip slightly to a low of about 45 degrees. Westerly winds of 6 mph will become calm in the evening.

Showers will resume Wednesday, with the heaviest rainfall coming after 1 p.m. and expected to last through the evening. Areas of fog will impede visibility during that time. The temperature will rise to nearly 60 degrees. 

The chance of rain is 100 percent with another three-quarters to one inch of rainfall possible.

Thursday, Christmas Eve, will start off with drizzle, then showers and thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon. Morning fog will make traveling a challenge before 9 a.m.

Otherwise, expect cloudy skies throughout the day, with unseasonably warm temperature, with the mercury climbing to 70 degrees. 

There is still a possibility of overnight rain Christmas Eve, mainly up until midnight under mostly cloudy skies, with the mercury dropping to around 55. 

Christmas Day on Friday will be mostly sunny, with warm temperatures reaching near 60 degrees.
