Guy Forsyth to play free concert in Ridgefield

Dazzling shows and a rich Americana root sound is what to expect when you attend a Guy Forsyth Concert.  This Austin based singer/songwriter has a dynamic personality that blazes when you see him live.  A comic stuntman before taking up pen to write, and a multi-instrumentalist on acoustic, electric and slide guitar, harmonica, ukulele, and singing saw(?), Forsyth has won numerous Americana Music Awards over the last twenty years but until recently did not tour much out of the Southwest.  CHIRP is excited to present him in Ballard Park on Thurs. July 18th at 7:00 pm and give Ridgefield residents the opportunity to meet this performer who enthralls Texans, young and old.  This concert has been underwritten in part by the Leir Foundation.  Rain venue is the Ridgefield Playhouse.

One of the founding members in 1994 of that infamous gutbucket blues group, The Asylum Street Spankers, Forsyth recorded 5 albums with them as well as several solo.  His songs range from energetic old fashioned yarns about love, the government and the apocalypse to those in his most recent CD, written for his daughter, titled The Freedom to Fail about “The Things that Matter”. On this tour Forsyth is accompanied by his long time and recently married rhythm section drummer Nina Singh-Botta and her husband bassist Jeff Botta who also appear on several of his albums.  Check him out at www.GuyForsyth.com and enter the unusual and extremely creative world of this talented singer/songwriter.
