Authorities at Bear Path Elementary School in Hamden said they received the threat around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 13.
Administrators were forced to evacuate the school. Students were taken to a separate location so they wouldn't be forced to stand in the heat.
The school was also forced to cancel the sixth-grade promotion ceremony scheduled for Friday.
Police investigated and found that the threat was a hoax around 10:45 a.m., but they are searching for the person who made it.
These threats have plagued schools in Connecticut and across the country. They have become more frequent in recent years.
