Speeding Pennsylvania Driver, 29, Charged Crash That Killed NJ Grandmother
A Pennsylvania man has been charged in connection with a fatal high-speed crash in South Jersey, authorities said. Theresa Karbach, 69, of Cherry Hill, died as a result of injuries from the crash in Lawnside on May 13 at about 9:30 p.m., according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Anwar Parham, 29, of North Wales, PA, was charged with death by auto, driving with a suspended license and assault by auto, MacAulay said. The legacy of a 42-year-old attorney from Alexandria will be kept alive with a brand-new scholarship fund. Mitchell Ethan Lucarelli died on Monday, May 13, according to his obituary on the Elmwood Chapel website. Ethan died an organ donor, "the last physical gifts he gave exemplified his enormous heart and love for others," his obituary says. A cause of death was not made public. Springfield Sex Assault Suspect Captured In El Salvador After Decade-Long Pursuit, Police Say
After more than a decade on the run, a 27-year-old man wanted for sexual assault out of Fairfax County was captured in El Salvador, police announced. David Ernesto Cuevas Maldonado, of Springfield, fled to El Salvador after sexually assaulting his victim, a stranger, at a home on Commerce Street in Springfield on Oct. 21, 2013, county police announced on Friday, May 24. Detectives collected evidence from the scene to help identify Maldonado with the help of a DNA profile dating back to 2014, authorities said. Man Rapes Girl Under 15 In Woodbridge, Police Say
A 36-year-old man is accused of raping a girl under 15 years old in northern Virginia, police said. Dennis William Caballero Mejia, of Woodbridge, was at a house on Gloucester Court with the victim on May 21 when he prevented the girl from leaving a room and sexually assaulted her, Prince William County police said. The girl was able to separate herself from Mejia and contact police. Mejia was charged with rape and abduction and held without bond, police said. 2.9 Magnitude Earthquake Rattles Tewksbury
New Jersey was rattled by a small earthquake on Friday morning, May 24, the USGS reports. It happened at 3:50 a.m. in Tewksbury, approximately 6 kilometers southwest of Gladstone, the USGS says. The Ramapo Fault System, which runs through NY, PA, NJ, MD, and VA, has clearly been a hot spot. Countless quakes and aftershocks have developed along the system since the 4.8-magnitude earthquake on April 5.

Driver Arrested In Deadly Huntington Crash, Police Say
A driver was placed under arrest following a fatal pedestrian crash in Fairfax County overnight, police said. The crash happened at North Kings Highway and Huntington Park Drive in Huntington, county police said just before 1:45 a.m. Friday, May 24. The pedestrian, an adult male, was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene and was later taken into custody, authorities said. No further information was provided.

A 61-year-old cocaine dealer was arrested in a New Jersey traffic stop after failing to use her turn signal, authorities said. Josephine Dimoplon became the center of an investigation with the Secaucus Police Department in early May, when a concerned citizen tipped them off to her alleged drug-dealing activities, Chief Dennis Miller said. On May 17, at 7:46 p.m., Dimoplon was stopped by the department's anti-crime unit for failing to use her turn signal, according to Miller. Warrant Issued For Ex-Con Found With Stolen Firearms In MontCo Traffic Stop: Cops
Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 43-year-old man who was found with stolen firearms while driving on a suspended license in Montgomery County, police said. Jonathan Karcher was stopped on Sept. 25, 2023 on Welsh Road in Lower Moreland by an officer who watched him violate multiple traffic rules, and noticed he had a tinted plate rendering it unreadable, the LMPD said. The social media accounts of the 19-year-old Queens man who was arrested in Newark for his dangerous stunts show him taunting police across the tri-state area.
