'Marijuana Deal Gone Bad' Lands Silver Spring Man Decades In Prison For Murder
A 25-year-old man will have decades behind bars to contemplate his life decisions after being convicted of the murder of a man during a botched drug deal, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office announced on Wednesday. Silver Spring resident Malik Jefferson has been sentenced to 55 years in prison in connection to the murder of Jose Osvaldo Genao Romero in in February 2022. Jefferson was convicted in January of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, and robbery, for which he was sentenced to 50 years. A dead whale was towed to the Jersey Shore after it was caught on the bow of a cruise ship, officials said. The cruise ship in the Port of Brooklyn, New York, reported the sei whale was caught on the front of the vessel on the morning of Saturday, May 4. Troy Man Sexually Assaults Paramedic At Albany VA Hospital, Feds Say
A man from the region is facing federal charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a paramedic at a Veterans Affairs hospital. Rensselaer County resident Robert Seifert, age 65, of Troy, was arraigned in Albany federal court on Tuesday, April 9. Prosecutors said Seifert grabbed the paramedic’s breast and groin at the Albany Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center. It was not immediately clear when the alleged assault occurred.
