Incident Shuts I-81 For Miles In Rockbridge (Developing) An incident along I-81 closed the roadway for several miles in Rockbridge Tuesday afternoon, April 16. The VDOT site shows multiple responder vehicles at the scene as of 3:15 p.m.  The site says only that an incident was reported at in the northbound lanes at mile marker 203 and backups were approximately 4 miles. 13 Dead, 4,475 Speeders Stopped Over Labor Day Weekend In Virginia Thirteen people died in 10 traffic crashes over Labor Day weekend in Virginia, and five of the accidents involved motorcycles, State Police said. Virginia State Police also stopped 4,475 speeders and 1,945 reckless drivers. State troopers also cited 491 seat belt violations and 150 child restraint violations, over the holiday weekend. The 2023 Labor Day statistical counting period began at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, and concluded at midnight Monday, Sept. 4, 2023.
