Metro Train Derails Near Reagan Airport With 50 Passengers On Board
Some travelers were left in a lurch on Friday morning when a train derailed near Reagan National Airport. Service was suspended temporarily on the Blue and Yellow lines on Friday, Sept. 29 as officials investigated a derailment that impacted at least 50 passengers who were on board at the time. According to WMATA, the incident happened around 10 a.m. resulting in trains being shut down between Potomac Yard and the airport. $4.1M Fine For American Airlines Over Tarmac Delays — One At Reagan Airport
American Airlines has been slapped with a $4.1 million fine — the largest ever over tarmac delays — including one that happened at Reagan National Airport. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) on Monday, Aug. 28 fined American Airlines $4.1 million for violating federal statutes and the Department’s rule prohibiting tarmac delays of three hours or more on domestic flights, without providing passengers an opportunity to deplane. A troubling trend continued in the DMV region as another traveler attempted to slip a handgun through security and onto a flight at an area airport. A Tennessee man who tried boarding a flight at Reagan National Airport with a gun and loaded magazines was stopped thanks to Transportation Security Administration agents.
