The National Weather Service has implemented a Flood Watch for the Baltimore/DC area and parts of Virginia from Friday, May 6 until Saturday morning. The incoming front could drop between 1-2 inches of rain per hour.
NWS said increased risk for flooding could occur in the areas around the Cacapon River near Great Cacapon, impacting Morgan County in West Virginia.
Residents who live close to rivers, and other large bodies of water, should monitor the potential for rising water levels and prepare for more flood warnings.
In addition, NWS said severe thunderstorms could bring damaging winds and large hail especially to portions of south Virginia. The best timing for these storms is between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tornadoes are also a possibility.
