TGI Fridays Closing Four Virginia Restaurants, 30 Total Locations Across Northeast
TGI Fridays is closing nearly 30 "underperforming" locations across the northeast and will sell eight restaurants to the chain's former CEO, the chain said in a news release.
The 27 closures include restaurants in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. In total, 36 TGI Fridays locations are shutting down nationwide.
The company says about 1,000 employees, which represent more than 80% of those impacted, will be offered transfer opportunities.

Virginia Marine Among 3 Dead In Osprey Crash
A U.S. Marine from Virginia was among three killed in an Osprey crash in Australia over the weekend.
U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Spencer R. Collart, 21, of Arlington, and two others died in the Sunday, Aug. 27 crash on Melville Island, north of Darwin, around 9:30 a.m., military officials said.
The two other Marines killed in the crash were:
U.S. Marine Corps Captain Eleanor V. LeBeau, 29, of Illinois; and U.S. Marine Corps Major Tobin J. Lewis, 37, the executive officer of VMM-363 (REIN), Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, of Colorado.

Notorious FBI agent-turned-spy, Robert Hanssen, was found dead in his cell at a maximum security prison in Colorado, various news outlets are reporting citing federal officials.
The 79-year-old former Vienna, VA resident was apparently found unresponsive just before 7 a.m. on Monday, June 5, the Washington Post reports. Purported attempts to save him were unsuccessful.
Hanssen's case is considered among the most egregious espionage cases in US history.

Steven Humphries Of Triangle Dies, 31
Steven Humphries of Triangle, VA died on April 21, 2023. He was 31 years old.
"Those who knew Steven, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives," his obituary reads. "He brought much laughter and joy to everyone he met, and he will be missed tremendously."
Born in Woodbridge, Steven grew up in Triangle and went on to live in Colorado before returning to Triangle in 2022.
