A 24-year-old man who had been wanted since April 12 in an armed robbery gone wrong in Bailey's Crossroads has been arrested, police said. Abner Neftali Selen Barrera approached a man getting out of his car on Lake Street in Bailey's Crossroads around 5 a.m. on Friday, April 12, then pulled out a gun and demanded his property, police said. Man Shot Overnight In Bailey's Crossroads
A man was shot overnight in Bailey's Crossroads, police said. He was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries to the upper body after the shooting on the 3400 block of Charles Street before dawn, police said. It was not immediately clear whether or not a person of interest had been identified.

The driver responsible for causing a fatal crash that took the life of a beloved 19-year-old man riding his motorcycle in Fairfax County has been charged, according to police. Falls Church resident Jose Rigoberto Alvarenga Machado, 35, was arrested and charged in connection to the March crash in Bailey's Crossroads that resulted in the death of Alejandro Portillo. Maribel Perez is mourning the loss of Alejandro Portillo, who died Sunday, March 10 in the Baileys Crossroads accident. Portillo was heading east on Leesburg Pike in the left through-lane when he collided with an Acura heading west, trying to turn onto Glen Carlyn Drive around 110:10 p.m., authorities said at the time.
