Recently Released Prisoner Killed In Northeast DC Shooting Tyrone Hopkins wasn't a free man for very long. A 30-year-old man who was gunned down in Northeast DC earlier this week had a checkered criminal history and had recently spent time in prison on a federal gun charge, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, officers from the department were called to the 3800 block of Jay Street NE, where they found Northeast DC resident Hopkins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
