Bear Cub Killed On I-395 In Arlington (Video) Arlington County Animal Control was called to I-395 to remove a dead bear from the roadway over the weekend, authorities said. The bear was spotted near Exit 8C around 2:10 p.m. Saturday, June 15, Virginia State Police spokesman Matthew Demlein said. At 5:48 p.m., a passing motorist said he'd struck the bear but did not stop because he was feeling ill. He was not injured. Meanwhile, a video shared by Angela Chin and posted to WashingtonianProbs on Instagram shows a young bear scampering along the highway. Rabid Raccoon Removed From Behind Arlington Community Center A raccoon that was found behind the Charles Drew Community Center in Arlington last week has tested positive for rabies, officials said. Animal Control officials on July 7 captured the raccoon, who showed symptoms of rabies in the 3400 block of 22nd Street at around 7:30 a.m., Arlington County Animal Control reported. Soon after its capture, the raccoon tested positive for the rabies virus, officials reported. Alert Issued For Rabid Fox In Arlington Neighborhood A potentially rabid fox was spotted in an Arlington neighborhood, officials said. Arlington County Animal Control responded to calls of a disoriented fox near the 4100 blocks of 41 St and Randolph Street N, south-east of Chain Bridge Rd and George Washington Pkwy around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington reports.
