At around 8:30 p.m. on Monday night, members of the Metropolitan Police Department on patrol in the 900 block of F Street NW tried to stop a suspect they believed to be carrying a weapon. A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Stafford County when he brandishing a rifle that he refused to put down, officials say. An on-duty DC firefighter has been charged with attacking a co-worker during an altercation that turned physical regarding “personal issues" over the weekend. Fairfax County Police Officer In Custody For DUI
A Fairfax County police officer was arrested for driving under the influence, officials said. Stephen Copp was driving his county vehicle while off-duty, when he was taken into custody for driving under the influence, according to the Fairfax County Police department. The county vehicle was found with front-end damage, authorities reported. The 15-year veteran was placed on administrative leave while the police force conducts an internal investigation, law enforcement said.

Two men were charged for their involvement in a Fairfax officer-involved shooting, officials said. On August 2 at around 10:45 p.m. law enforcement was investigating an illegal drug trade at the Seven Corners Shopping Center when they saw Jeffrey Payne, 41, facilitate the drug sale, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
