Firefighter Burned Fighting 3-Alarm Fire At Virginia Beach T-Shirt Factory (Update)

A three-alarm fire destroyed the T-Shirt Factory and a firefighter was hospitalized with burns on Tuesday, July 11 in Virginia Beach.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 2600 Block of Atlantic Avenue around 5:15 p.m., where they were met by heavy smoke coming from the factory.

More than 75 firefighters responded to the three-alarm commercial structure. The fire quickly spread to two adjoining businesses: the Maple Tree Pancake & Waffle House, and King of the Sea Restaurant. 

The fire was marked under control just after 9 p.m.

Units from Chesapeake, Norfolk and Navy Region provided mutual aid.
