A Reston man out on bail for making a false stabbing report and embezzling from his employer in Loudoun County is back behind bars after returning to the scene of the crime, the sheriff's office says. Police ID 87-Year-Old Man Killed Crossing Intersection In Virginia
An 87-year-old Reston man well known to the community has died from his injuries after being struck by a Mercedes while walking near a busy Fairfax County intersection, police say. Peter McCandless has been identified by investigators as the man struck attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Reston Parkway near Market Street earlier this week. Police say that McCandless was walking in a crosswalk, but against the signal when he was struck by a 2017 Mercedes ML350 traveling through the area. Virginia State Police investigators have identified the Manassas woman who was killed after being ejected from a vehicle last week on I-77. Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, Thomas Southard, 67, was driving Pamela Stewart, 69, when he lost control on the interstate in Carroll County and crashed near the three-mile marker, officials say.
