Teen Charged For Assault With Intent To Murder Near Southeast DC Churches, School: MPD

A teenager is facing serious charges after being busted following an early-morning shooting that was reported in Southeast DC earlier this week.

The Metropolitan Police Department announced on Sunday, Feb. 4 that a 16-year-old has been arrested following an investigation into a shooting in the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE that was blocks away from churches and schools in the area.

It was reported at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3. 

Police say that the bullet did not strike the victim, and the teen fled before officers could arrive.

Over the weekend, the 16-year-old was arrested in Southeast DC and charged with: 

  • Assault with intent to murder;
  • Possession of an unregistered firearm;
  • Possession of unregistered ammunition;
  • Receiving stolen property.

No information about his next court appearance was released by the police.
