Former VA High School Football Player Marques Pitre-Johnson Dies Suddenly, 28
Marques Xavier Pitre-Johnson, a Reston, VA native, died unexpectedly at home in Georgia on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, his obituary said. He was 28 years old.
Marques was being remembered in his obituary as a "true Restonian," having played for the Reston Ankle Biters little league football team and South Lakes Seahawks football team in high school.
He was also a talented music artist, who went by "Johnny Quest," and proudly served in the US Navy and worked as an HVAC tech, his obituary continues.
More than $4,400 had been raised for Johnson's family on a GoFundMe as of press time.

Driver, 18, Dies Weeks After Fairfax County Crash
An 18-year-old driver has died of injuries suffered in a Fairfax County crash on Jan. 2, authorities said.
Jose Armando Sanchez Aguilar, of Reston, was heading south on Fairfax County Parkway when he lost control of his 2011 Honda Civic, left the roadway, and struck the sound barrier wall just after 5 a.m., county police said.
Sanchez Aguilar was hospitalized with serious injuries and died on Jan. 17, county police said.
His passenger, a woman, was also transported to the hospital in conditions considered to be non-life threatening.

A fast-casual Latin American restaurant is the latest eatery coming to one Arlington mall.
Maizal will be opening in the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, according to an announcement on the mall's website.
Maizal offers create your own green, grain or mixed bowls, assorted arepas, and specialty items such as south American hot dogs, empanadas, street corn, plantains, yucca, churros and cookie sandwiches, the announcement says.
Maizal has two locations in Washington DC, one in Charlottsville, one in Reston, and one in Ballston.

A Virginia family's nanny has been charged with killing a man in their home last February, even though the family's husband and father initially took the blame for the shooting in a 9-1-1 call, authorities said.
Juliana Peres Magalhaes, 23, of Reston, is believed to have shot Joseph Ryan, 39, of Springfield, in the Banfield family's home on the 13200 block of Stable Brook Way in Herndon, the morning of Feb. 24, county police said.
