The Stafford County Sheriff had to deploy a SWAT team to detain a wanted armed robbery suspect who has been causing trouble for law enforcement across the town. Authorities have arrested the suspect wanted in the University of Virginia shooting that left three people dead and two wounded on Sunday, Nov. 13. Petersburg Animal Care and Control Center recently discovered a scam was going on involving animal care donations, officials said.A Facebook page, "Help the Petersburg Animals" is soliciting money from people and posting pets online that are not currently up for adoption in the Petersburg adoption facility, according to the Petersburg Bureau of Police. Woman Shot In VSU Dorm Days Before Graduation
A woman was shot at a freshman residence hall at Virginia State University's Petersburg campus Sunday, May 1, ABC News 8 reports. Police responded to a call for a shooting at Quad 1 on Lee Street at 7:50 pm on May, 1, where they discovered an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound, according to both Chesterfield and University Police. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital with injuries, and the campus was placed on lockdown.
