A Florida man visiting Virginia is facing charges after allegedly abducting a woman against her will from Pennsylvania and taking her to a Woodbridge hotel over the weekend. Oak Hill native Robert Buchanan, 64, was arrested following an investigation into a reported abduction of a 30-year-old woman who was taken on Thursday, June 27. More than a month after a person was shot outside a Virginia hotel during a dispute, police say that an 18-year-old suspect has been apprehended. Alexandria resident A-Jay Jones is facing charges in connection to a shooting reported in the early hours of Sunday May 19 at an Arlington hotel. Police say that officers were called at approximately 2:50 a.m. to a hotel in the 1200 block of North Courthouse Road, where there was a dispute that ended when Jones allegedly took out a weapon and began firing, striking his victim and two parked vehicles. Old Hotel Could Get New Look: Arlington Seeks Public Input On Red Lion Inn Redevelopment
Arlington officials are asking the public to weigh in on the redevelopment of the Red Lion Inn. Orr Partners took over redevelopment plans for the Arlington Boulevard and Fairfax Drive hotel in 2019, and hope to transform it into a condo building and hotel. Orr Partners is hoping to rezone the hotel — which was built in the 1950s and formerly known as the Best Western Iwo Jima hotel — along with the Ellis Arms apartment next door.
