Illegal fireworks and a loaded handgun were recovered in Baltimore during a traffic stop when officers were tipped off by expired Virginia temporary tags. Two were cited and face charges following an incident that played out late in the afternoon on Tuesday. According to the Baltimore Police Department, shortly before 7 p.m. on July 2, officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the 4400 block of Belair Road when they spotted the expired tags. Improperly Discarded Fireworks Caused July 4th Fairfax County House Fire
Improperly discarded fireworks have been identified as the cause of a Fourth of July house fire in Fairfax County, authorities said. The spent fireworks went off around 12:55 a.m. on July 4, at a home on the 600 block of Stuart Court in Herndon, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said. Twelve people were displaced by the flames that ravage a two-story, single-family home, including one who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A day of celebration turned into one of misery for multiple Stafford County families displaced by a fast-moving fire on the Fourth of July. The tale of a teen who ran so fast from police after lighting fireworks on a high school turf ended just like a fairytale in Loudoun County. Officers found the group of kids shooting fireworks from the Loudoun Valley High School practice turf around 12:20 a.m. Sunday, June 25, Purceville police said in a release. Fireworks Mistaken For Gunshots Puts Arlington School In Lockdown: Police
Washington-Liberty High School was place on lockdown when fireworks were mistaken for gunshots Tuesday, July 19, authorities said. Officers arrived at the school at around 7:50 a.m. and found evidence of fireworks that were set off, Arlington County Police reported.
