Less than two weeks after several people were shot in Southwest DC near Nationals Park, the Metropolitan Police Department launched a new death investigation in the area on Wednesday. At around 10:45 p.m. on Jan. 3, officers were called to the 1400 block of Canal Street SW, approximately three blocks away from the field to investigate when a body was found. Police say that a 38-year-old man is dead and a suspect has taken into custody following a weekend stabbing in Alexandria. Detectives from the Alexandria Police Department have launched a death investigation following a reported stabbing in Del Ray that left a man dead inside an area building. A death investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead in a burning dumpster on Friday, Sept. 1 in Arlington, Daily Voice has learned. Firefighters responded to reports of a dumpster fire on the 200 block of S. Veitch Street, around 11:40 a.m., Arlington spokeswoman Ashley Savage said. Arlington Inmate Dies After Being Found Unresponsive
A woman being held at a Virginia jail for trespassing was found dead in her cell, authorities in Arlington announced. Abonesh Woldegeorges, 73, died on Sunday, Aug. 27, when she was found unresponsive in her cell at the Arlington County Detention Facility, according to officials. Deputies say that they found Woldegeorges unresponsive in her cell shortly after 7 a.m. on Sunday morning. Police were called to reports of a missing person near the Chatham Bridge in Fredericksburg around 9:15 a.m., Stafford County Sheriff David Decatur said. The person was found and pronounced dead.
