Officer, Suspect Exchange Gunfire In 'Unprovoked' Shooting In Northeast DC (Developing)
Officers exchanged gunfire with a wanted suspect on Tuesday morning before the man was apprehended inside a nearby building, police say.
Shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, Metropolitan Police Assistant Chief Leslie Parsons said that officers responded to the 1700 block of Benning Road NE, where there were sounds of gunshots that rang out in the area.

Police ID Two Killed In Southeast DC Midday Shooting Near School (Updated)
New details have been released by the Metropolitan Police Department after a Friday morning shooting that left two dead.
Charles Luster, Jr., 56, and Tyjon Clayton, 20, both of Southeast DC, have been identified as the two people shot shortly after 11:45 a.m. on Friday, July 28 in the 4200 block of 6th Street SE, not far from Hendley Elementary School.
Upon arrival at the shooting, police pronounced one of the victims dead, while the other was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to officials.
