Support was surging for the family of a 17-year-old Fairfax High School student struck and killed by a car this week. Lesly Diaz-Bonilla's dreams of being a nurse were cut short Wednesday, Nov. 16 when she was struck while crossing Columbia Pike from Barcroft View Terrace in Bailey's Crossroads just before 9 a.m., according to a GoFundMe launched for her family, and authorities. Police ID Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Infiniti Outside Crosswalk In Bailey's Crossroads
A woman who was struck and killed by an SUV in Bailey's Crossroads has been identified by authorities. Elise Ballard, 40, was crossing the street — outside of the crosswalk — at Leesburg Pike near Carlin Springs Road when she was hit by a westbound 2017 Infiniti QX60 around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, Fairfax County police said the day after the crash. Maryland Man Accused Of Beating, Stabbing Stepson To Death Captured By Police
Police have arrested an Upper Marlboro man accused of stabbing his stepson to death over the weekend, authorities say. Prince George's County Detectives say that Jamie Porras, 68, stabbed Kelly McClary, 53, to death around 7 a.m., Friday, Oct. 7, inside of a home on Queen Anne Bridge Road. McClary was discovered with several apparent blunt force trauma and stab wounds, and was pronounced dead on the scene. A 53-year-old Fairfax County woman has died after being struck entering a US Army installation in Virginia, police say. Melodie Kiem was struck shortly after 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 on Richmond Highway at the Tully Gate entrance to Fort Belvoir, according to investigators. Police said that Kiem, a Fort Belvoir resident, was crossing the highway from the median against the pedestrian cross signal when she was struck by a 2015 GMC Terrain that had the right of way.
