Twitter users stuck around Thursday, June 30, to roast transportation officials after road crews damaged dozens of tires after drivers got stuck in wet tar on Interstate 295.

Officials closed a section of the heavily trafficked highway for hours on Wednesday night to make repairs east of East Capitol Street in Washington, D.C., The Washington Post reported. Crews had repaved the road earlier that day, but officials aren't sure what caused the sticky situation. They believe the culprit was the application process rather than the materials crews used, District Department of Transportation officials told The Post.

Drivers knew who to blame. Many took to Twitter to roast transportation leaders over it.
