Maya Olivia Smith, of Culpeper, was last seen renting a boat at Lake Anna in Spotsylvania County around 12:30 p.m. on May 11, the Louisa County Sheriff's Office said.

She was last seen wearing a purple sweater jacket with a zipper, and baggy dark blue or black pants. Her hair now has highlights and is styled short and “poofy”.

On Sunday, May 12, a report was taken by the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office about an abandoned boat stuck on a sandbar in Lake Anna, located around Bear Castle Drive in Bumpass, the office said.

The boat matched the description of the one rented by Smith on the previous day. Several personal belongings of Smith's were found aboard the boat, and nothing was located indicating foul play.

The Louisa County Sheriff's Office Marine Units, with the assistance of Louisa County Fire & EMS, and Spotsylvania Fire & EMS boats using sonar, checked the water in the area where the boat was located with negative results.
