A storm system on track for the Northeast has the potential to bring accumulating snowfall to parts of the region and a mix of rain and snow in areas farther south. The system is on track for Sunday, Dec. 11, according to the National Weather Service. Damaging Wind Gusts That Could Cause Power Outages Will Be Main Threat From Major Storm System
The main threat from a significant storm on track for the region will be dangerous wind gusts that could cause power outages. The system will move in from the Midwest on Wednesday, Nov. 30. "At this force, tree limbs can break, weak trees can be blown over, and loose objects such as trash cans and recycling bins can become projectiles," according to AccuWeather.com. "Sporadic to regional power outages are likely." Separate Rounds Of Wet Weather Will Start On Black Friday
A stretch of sunny, dry days leading up to and including Thanksgiving Day will be followed by separate rounds of wet weather, starting on Black Friday, Nov. 25, according to the National Weather Service. After a one-day reprieve from precipitation on Saturday, Nov. 26, those back on the road and in airports traveling will have to contend with a second round of wet weather on Sunday, Nov. 27.
