A Virginia driver who called 911 thinking he had hit a deer ended up fatally striking a man, authorities said.
Gregory Breeden, 52, of Stafford, was walking along Cambridge Street near the 500 block just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, when he was hit by a driver heading northbound in the right lane, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
Believing he had struck a deer, the driver immediately called 911, officials said. But when deputies arrived and searched the area, they found Breeden lying on the ground with severe injuries.
