Vehicle Fire Completely Shuts I-81, 6 Miles Of Backups Reported A vehicle fire had I-81 completely shut in Frederick County, VA Wednesday morning, June 12. All northbound lanes were closed as of 11:30 a.m., with traffic backups six miles long, the VDOT said. The incident happened right near the Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester. As of 4:20 p.m., the south right lane and right shoulder were closed.  Traffic backups were approximately 4 miles.
