The outage, which impacted areas of the main terminal and the Hourly Garage, was first reported early on March 3, with BWI officials urging travelers to check their flight status as crews worked to restore power.

By 9:30 a.m., the situation worsened, with airport officials announcing that “many inbound flights are being diverted at this time.”

Passengers were advised to check directly with their airlines for the latest flight information.

Less than 30 minutes later, BWI provided an update stating that power was slowly being restored, with security screening operations resuming at Checkpoint D/E.

Some airlines also began using air stairs to deplane passengers.

The cause of the outage was not immediately clear.

Travelers at BWI faced significant delays, with some left stranded as they waited for power to be fully restored.

More information is expected to be provided.
