Navy Vet, Federal Employee Crystal Carnes Of Fredericksburg Dies: 'Put On Some Grateful Dead' Crystal Carnes, a veteran of the US Navy who recently retired from her a lead position within the Department of Defense, died on Sunday, June 30 after battling a brain tumor, her obituary on the Covenan Funeral Service website says.
