Amin Emad-Eldin Hammoud has been identified by investigators as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by the driver a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia 125, who suffered minor injuries.

The incident was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 in the area of Sully Road and Poplar Tree Road.

Detectives determined that a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia 125, traveling northbound in the far-right lane, drifted over the solid white line and struck Hammoud, who was outside his car at the time.

Hammoud was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Freightliner was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Detectives with the Crash Reconstruction Unit said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, though the investigation is ongoing.

Police have not announced any charges in connection with the crash.
