According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Target on South Gateway Drive around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11 after employees spotted a masked man casually stuffing a backpack full of stolen goods before making a break for it.
While the suspect thought he got away, store employees got the last laugh, providing deputies with a description of his getaway car.
It didn’t take long before deputies to spot the vehicle parked outside Walmart on Village Parkway—because what’s better than one shopping spree?
Two.
The suspect was caught walking out of Walmart with more stolen goods and was promptly detained.
The stolen items were returned to both stores, and deputies wasted no time obtaining warrants for two counts of shoplifting and wearing a mask in public while committing a crime.
The shoplifting suspect was booked at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond, probably rethinking his life choices.
